KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for a Superintendent II, Laboratory

The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometers west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometers west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

To plan, coordinate and direct the operation of all internal laboratory personnel, equipment and activities within the Smelter, in accordance with laboratory sampling Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), in order to support the achievement of production targets. The incumbent supervises the work of the Laboratory personnel for the Smelter laboratory


You will have the following:

  • Must have a Degree/ Diploma in Chemistry with related majors
  • A master’s degree in chemistry is an added advantage
  • Must have at least 8 years’ experience, in an smelting laboratory
  • Must have at least 3 years supervisory experience
  • Proficiency in business English is mandatory. in smelting laboratory Knowledge of French and Swahili will be considered highly advantageous.

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to:

  • Process: Coordinate a world class laboratory function
  • Organise and supervise the Lab team to complete analysis tasks as per smelter regulations and requirements
  • Drive effective problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Function as a Laboratory subject matter expert
  • Stakeholder management: Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation
  • People - Coordinate, monitor and supervise the performance of direct reports
  • Finance - Monitor costs or expenses within approved budget to achieve cost efficiencies and reduce waste
  • Transformation - Support the Transformation agenda
  • HSEQ- mplement a work ethos that is committed to safeguarding employee safety, health and wellbeing
