KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for a Superintendent I, Environment
The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

Supervise and lead environmental advisors in maintaining environmental compliance and supporting Business Plan Objectives.
Responsible for the emission monitoring of both point and non-point sources within the smelter complex and ensure that excessive emissions are thoroughly investigated and remedial action(s) taken.
Investigation and reporting of emissions and inspections of sources that emit air pollution, for purposes of determining compliance with national air pollution control regulations and international best practices
Responsible for monitoring, noncompliance investigations of effluent discharges from processing plants. Implementation of the Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001:2015) through continual procedural auditing, effective communication of issues with relevant departments and assistance with rolling out changes.
Close communication between all other work groups and departments. Ensure sufficient crew engagement; Manage crew Environmental compliance and development opportunities across Smelter.
To plan, coordinate and monitor Smelter-wide environmental compliance initiatives. This role functions as the expert in ensuring that Smelter complies to all environmental standards, policies and procedures and adheres to legal and regulatory requirements. The incumbent conducts investigations to identify non-compliances and coordinates the implementation of corrective actions in line with global best practices
You will have the following:
- Must have a degree in Degree in Environmental Sciences / Conservation management
- An Internal Auditing Certification (ISO 14001 or similar) will be an added advantage.
- Must have at least 10 years relevant experience in a mining environment, with preference for experience in a copper smelter environment
- Must have at least with 3 years supervisory compliance initiatives.
- Proficiency in business English is mandatory. Working knowledge of French will be considered highly advantageous

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to:
- Supervise and coordinate environmental compliance initiatives
- Conduct air quality field tests and air quality impact analyses. Plan, coordinate and monitor company-wide environmental compliance initiatives.

- Coordinate environmental compliance reporting and record keeping
- Function as a subject matter expert and drive effective problem solving and continuous improvement
- Stakeholder Management - Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation
