KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for a Superintendent II, Health

The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

To oversee medical activities and implement best practice medical care at the designated medical facility (Kamoa hospital, Kakula clinic, Kansoko clinic, Kamoa 1 clinic, etc.) in accordance with the established departmental framework and strategy. The incumbent supervises medical personnel at the designated medical facility or unit.

You will have the following:

  • Must be a Qualified Medical Doctor
  • Certification in: Basic Life Support (PLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ALTS), Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS), is an added advantagE
  • Must have at least 8 years' relevant experience as a skilled clinician with 3-4 years in clinical management’
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience in the mining environment
  • Proficiency in business English is mandatory. Knowledge of French and Swahili will be considered a strong advantage.

Role Skills should include:

  • DRC legislation
  • Kamoa medical care policies and framework
  • Knowledge of core capabilities of contracted external medical facilities and providers

 

Technical Specific Knowledge:

  • Multi-skilled across a range of medical procedures, including general surgery, administering anesthetics etc.

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to:

  • Coordinate and implement best practice medical care across Kamoa
  • Ensure the day-to-day provision of care and implementation of optimal medical care.
  • Drive effective problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Function as a Medical subject matter expert
  • Stakeholder management- Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration, and innovation
  • People -Coordinate, monitor and supervise the performance of direct reports.
  • Finance -Monitor costs or expenses related to patient care within approved budget to achieve cost efficiencies and reduce waste.
  • Transformation - Support the Transformation agenda.
  • HSEQ - Integrate HSEQ into all work processes.
  • Adhere to and improve reporting processes for the area of responsibility.
