KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for a Specialised Artisan, Mechanical & Fitting (Conveyor Belt Systems)

The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

Build, monitor and maintain Conveyor Belt systems for the benefit of mining production. The incumbent tasks a team of specialists and the scope / portfolio of this role include to ensure the installation, maintenance, repair, and optimization of conveyor belt systems (Conveyor Belt, Hydraulic Rock Breakers, Apron Feeders and Mobile Crushers to support continuous production operations with minimal downtime

You will have the following:

  • Must be a Trade Tested Fitter and turner
  • Must have a Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Must have at least 8 years post–Trade Test experience as a Fitter and Turner in an underground mining environment
  • Must have a minimum of 8 years’ experience in the maintenance and installation of conveyor belt systems, with hydraulic systems experience.

Role Profile Knowledge

  • Underground experience
  • Understanding of mining methodologies
  • Understanding of different roles (fitter, rigger, boilermaker) and how they work together

Technical Skill

  • Background knowledge of Conveyor Belt systems and Hydraulic experience (E.g. Conveyor belt, Rock breaker, Apron Feeder, Mobile crushers)

  • Ensure the Conveyor Belt system is in optimal condition and to allow support on continuous production operations with minimal downtime.
