KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for a Superintendent I, Utility Plant

The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

Assist the Superintendent II, Utility plant to manage the 6MWsteam turbine generator position, air compressor position, water treatment position, 33KVsubstation position, and electric control position. Assist the Superintendent II, Utility plant to deal with problems in the production of each position. Responsible for job training and skill transfer

You will have the following:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Electrical/ Heat Engineering / Automation Engineering
  • 7 years' relevant smelter Utility plant experience with proven experience in building and commissioning a Smelter Utility plant Must be proficient in waste heat power generation, water treatment, substation, VPSA oxygen production, PSA nitrogen production and other technologies.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a managerial position preferably in starting up a team to be fully functional

Role Specific Knowledge Skills:

  • Operating Utility plant machines or equipment
  • Troubleshooting (to determine causes of operating errors and establish remedial actions)
  • Understanding Smelting methodologies specific to the Utility plant
  • Production and Smelter Standard Operating Procedures
  • Ability to deal with emergencies in the plant
  • DRC Legislature knowledge

Technical Skills

  • Understanding smelter systems, methodology and equipment used

Personal Competencies should include:

  • Mechanical knowledge
  • Engineering knowledge
  • Production knowledge
  • Heat engineering
  • Automation

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to

  • Assistance in manage and maintain the Utility plant to ensure stable operation of 6MW steam turbine generator, water treatment equipment, 33KV and 11KV substations, and distribution rooms
  • Oversee, supervise and implement Utility Plant Design, Construction & Commissioning
  • Ensure, organize and coordinate the safe operation of the Utility Plant
  • Produce electricity/water/Nitrogen/compressed air to meet the monthly and annual production targets
  • Drive effective problem-solving and continuous improvement
  • Stakeholder management- Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation.
  • People: Coordinate, monitor and supervise the performance of direct reports
  • Finance: Monitor costs or expenses within approved budget to achieve cost efficiencies and reduce waste
  • HSEQ: Integrate HSEQ into all work processes
