Superintendent II, GES Engineering Mechanical (Concentrator and Backfill)

The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

To ensure the function, operation and maintenance of the Backfill Plant is carried out effectively, efficiently, and safely. The incumbent supervises specialists, and the scope/portfolio of this role includes the management of the backfill plant, and the maintenance of equipment for the purposes of mining operations and business continuity

You will have the following:
• Completed diploma in Mechanical Engineering is a must
• Completed degree in Mechanical Engineering is added advantage
• Must be a qualified trade tested artisan
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in mechanical- electrical engineering, pumping and pipe systems
• Must have at least 5- 7 years of supervisory experience
• At least 10 years of experience in the mining environment
• Proficiency in business English is mandatory. Knowledge of French, Swahili, and Mandarin will be considered highly advantageous.

• Process: Render services to Mining and Deliver on the operating plan.
• Maintain systems to ensure business continuity.
• Oversee Contractors and service providers

• Function as a Backfill Plant Engineering subject matter expert
• Stakeholder Management - Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration, and innovation.
• People: Coordinate, monitor and supervise the performance of direct reports.
• Finance: Monitor costs or expenses within approved budget to achieve cost efficiencies and reduce waste.
• HSEQ: Implement the HSEQ plan for the Business area
• Implement Reporting, Governance and Quality assurance for area of responsibility.
