KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for a Specialised Officer, Drill Rig Operator

The Kamoa Copper Mine, is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

Purpose of the role:

To improve drilling, safety and production standards and lower maintenance costs, by enhancing the capabilities of Drill Rig Trainers and Operators, through knowledge transfer by refreshing and Training. The incumbent provides and executes underground Best Practice, Refreshers training, Learning from Incidents training, post training observations, generic risk management and workplace related safety training, to ensure that KCSA mining employees are competent to safely and efficiently perform their work as Drill Rig operators.

Experience and Qualifications:

• Licensed to operate Drill Rigs (282, M2C, Simba, M20)
• High School Education
• Train the Trainer
• Multi-licence (Sandvik, Bell, Caterpillar etc on various U/G Drill Rig equipment) certificates, Train the Trainer, Assessor Certificate and Coaching are preferred
• 4+ years' underground drilling experience
  
• English as working language, French, Swahili advantageous

Skills and knowledge:

• Mechanised Underground Mining
• Epiroc/Sandvick experience including operation and maintenance
• Drill Rig operations
• Mechanical skills
• Training and coaching
• Drill rig maintenance
• Fault identification
  

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver and Refresh Drill Rig Operator training as per the operating plan
• Drive effective problem solving and continuous improvement
• Improve Standards of Scaling, Supporting and Drilling
• Improve Standards of Maintenance
• Function as a Drilling subject matter expert
