KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for a Superintendent II, SCF production

The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

SCF production management which involves overseeing the organization and coordination of tasks which include but not limited to the following:

  • To do daily production planning in line with smelting plant target and ensure transmission of information to team members and other stakeholders
  • To control production and optimize on-site process parameters
  • To coordinate with multiple departments such as the power plant, DBF, acid plant, flotation plant, anode furnace, and the control centre
  • To ensure immediate resolution of problems such as breakdowns, high copper in slag and safety accidents which are key performance indicators that affect the company's profitability
  • Coordinate maintenance works to minimize downtime and production losses

 

You will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering)
  • 5 years' relevant experience in copper smelting
  • 2 year's supervisory experience
  • Proficiency in business English is mandatory.  Working knowledge of French will be considered highly advantageous..

  • Process: Supervise SCF operations
  • Deliver on the Slag Cleaning Furnace operating plan
  • Drive effective problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Enable and support contractors to deliver
  • Stakeholder Management - Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation
  • People- Coordinate, monitor and supervise the performance of direct reports
  • Finance - Monitor costs or expenses to achieve cost efficiencies and reduce waste
  • Support the Transformation agenda
  • HSEQ: Comply with the HSEQ plan for the Business area
  • Reporting and Governance and Quality
