KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for Superintendent I, Control and Instrumentation

The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines 39.6%), Zijin Mining Group 39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited 0.8% and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo 20%)。 It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

To manage and maintain all Control and Instrumentation equipment within the relevant smelter plant. The incumbent supervises specialists, and the scope/portfolio of this role includes all maintenance, efficiency and improvement of all control and instrumentation equipment for the plant

You will have the following:

  • Must have a Degree in Control &Instrumentation, automation engineering or equivalent
  • Must have at least 8-years' relevant smelter C&I experience.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory position
  • Fluency in business English required. French, Mandarin or Swahili advantageous

You will have advanced skills and knowledge in:

  • Entire Smelter operations, equipment, machines, C&I and infrastructure
  • Troubleshooting to determine causes of operating errors and establish remedial actions
  • Understanding C&I and automation equipment
  • Programming and configuration of instrumentation
  • Production and Smelter Standard Operating Procedures and process
  • Ability to deal with emergencies in the plant

Technical Skills should include:

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to

  • Manage and maintain all control and instrumentation equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations of the smelter.
  • Consult on, supervise and implement Control and Instrumentation (C&I) equipment design, construction & commissioning
  • Inspect, Manage and Maintain C&I equipment
  • Drive effective problem-solving and continuous improvement
  • Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation
  • Coordinate, monitor and supervise the performance of direct reports
  • Monitor costs or expenses within approved budget to achieve cost efficiencies and reduce waste
  • Integrate HSEQ into all work processes
