KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for a Superintendent II, Short Term Mine Planning Engineer (3 positions available)

The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

Accountable for developing and executing short to medium-term mine plans that optimize safe, efficient mineral extraction in alignment with long-term mining strategy. The role integrates drill and blast operations, production scheduling, and cross-functional coordination to deliver practical, achievable plans that meet quarterly targets while ensuring technical integrity and safety compliance.

You will have the following:

  • Must hold a degree in Mining Engineering.
  • A Master’s degree in Mine Planning and Optimisation will be an added advantage.
  • Must have at least 7 years of post-graduation experience with demonstrated expertise in mine planning (short and medium), drill-and-blast operations.
  • Must have at least of 7 years’ underground mining experience.
  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience in geological data interpretation.
  • Must have a background in Mine surveying.
  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience working with Deswik mine planning software.
  • Proficiency in business English is mandatory. Knowledge of French and Swahili will be considered a strong advantage.

  • Advanced Computer literacy for role - MS Office Software and blast design software
  • Policy development
