KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for Managerial Leader II, Engineering

The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%)。 It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

To establish, implement and manage a best practice Engineering division. The incumbent operationalises strategy by managing managers and specialists and the scope / portfolio of this role includes ensuring pumping systems, electrical reticulation systems and conveyor systems up to ROM stockpile are installed, maintained and operated safely.

You will have the following:

  • Must have a diploma/ degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
  • Must have at least 12 years varied engineering experience in an underground  mining environment
  • Must have at least 6 years managerial experience in a mining environment.
  • Must be Registered Certified Engineer
  • Fluency in business English required. French, Mandarin or Swahili advantageous

Role Specific Knowledge

  • Must have exposure in underground mining for at least 12 years
  • Must have exposure in infrastructure engineering for at least 12 years

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to:

  • Drive, coordinate and manage the Engineering (Infrastructure) division
  • Design, establish and embed effective and efficient engineering structures, plans and governance structures
  • Design, develop and implement systems and solutions to maximize business continuity
  • Maintain systems to ensure business continuity
  • Function as a subject matter expert on Engineering (Infrastructure)
  • Stakeholder Management- Drive relationships with stakeholders to enable optimization of the business value chain
  • People: Build and maintain a capable, high performing team
  • Finance: Ensure financial integrity of area of responsibility
  • Support Transformation, Change and Cultural integration initiatives
  • HSEQ: Implement the HSEQ plan for the Business area
  • Manage Reporting and Governance for area of responsibility
